I'm not familiar with any mailing lists like that, but the subject line of
your message makes me wonder if you've seen the book "The History and
Geography of Human Genes" by L. Luca Cavalli-Sforza et al. It is a HUGE book,
535 pages of text and 518 pages of maps which show frequency gradients for
quite a number of genes. This book was written before DNA analysis was
practical, so gene products were studied instead. If you can find examples
where the frequency of some gene is high in the France/Spain region, you
could look at the "contours" on the maps to see what directions the gene
might have travelled.

I'd check for a library copy first, then if you want to purchase the book,
try www.bibliofind.com. They have several copies right now for $70+. Be sure
you get the first edition hardback ISBN 0-691-08750-4 if you want the maps.
