doing genealogy research and especially would be staying away from genetic
methods of finding out about our ancestry. I don't know any researchers that
'don't want to know' about their biological ancestors. There may be some, at
least one, evidently, who doesn't, but I haven't met them.

I'm with you RT. I WANT to know who my biological ancestors are, but I came
across someone the other day who I was trying to interest in taking part in
our Stidham Family DNA Study, and he said he already KNEW who is ancestors
were. He had the documentation to PROVE it.

Right (I thought to myself).

"And anyway," he said gruffly over the phone, "just what EXACTLY are you
trying to find out?"

I told him we (several members of the Timen Stiddem Society) were trying to
see if we could get enough Stidhams involved in a Y chromosome analysis to
try and determine scientifically, if indeed we all came from the same common
ancestor like we assumed we did. He said he didn't need to prove anything. He
knew.

Other than the expense of having these tests done, that's another major
roadblock I'm running into trying to convince others into joining us in a DNA
study.
