Hello list--In reply to Richard and others, yes I too am interested in DNA
testing to determine Native American ancestry. My family also has a legend of
Native American ancestry way back when, but I have not been able to document
it. The frustrating thing is that this testing as it is today would not be
able to tell me what I want to know, as this ancestry, if it exists, would be
on a line that is mixed male and female, through my maternal grandfather's
mother's ancestors. As far as I understand it current tests only document
all-female or all-male lines. Of course, even if such ancestry was proved the
tribes would not recognize it anyway, even in an honorary way, as I understand
