Actually natural burials are not illegal, but one must know and often must
insist on one's rights and that could be difficult at such a time. There are
societies of people who band together for natural burials, and who consider
embalming barbaric and unnecessary. I have an address for one such
organization here in Wisconsin, if anyone is interested, and I believe there are
some published books on the subject. There probably are restrictions if the
body is being transported.
