The archives of mailing lists at RootsWeb are accessible again, although it's
a two-step process to get there from our "home page."

List members who have joined recently might enjoy browsing the archives. The
browse function shows you a month's worth of messages as threads. This means
the messages are organized by subject line -- that's why it's so important to
make sure your subject line reflects the content of your message. This
applies to everyone, but especially to people who subscribe to the digest
mode -- they need to train their fingers to type in a subject line, otherwise
the subject line is "Digest #"! Don't be bashful about changing subject lines
when the topic drifts. Of course, this advice is coming from someone who
often experiences serious gaps between her brain and her fingers/mouse.

The other way of using the archives is with the search function, which allows
you to check a year's worth of messages at a time for key words.
