In addition to the fact that the Bible is so poorly written, as evidenced by
lengthy and non-sensical run-on sentences, what a person can manage to
decipher is so contradictory, that it leaves you wondering whether anything
in it is actually fact. Case in point is the issue of who Cain married.

When last I attempted to read the book, I got as far as the part where Cain
was evicted from his home after murdering Abel. He set off and came upon
OTHER PEOPLE and took a wife. That must mean that there were already people
in another region, unrelated to his parents and to him. Right there is
where I stopped any further attempts at reading the book. That MAJOR
contradiction, that gaping hole right at the very beginning of the story,
casts doubt on anything that follows. This is so because if we are to
believe the Bible, then we have to accept, unquestioningly, that Adam and
Eve were the very first people on earth. That, then, leads to several
possible conclusions as to how the world was populated: 1) Adam and Eve
only had Cain and Abel and Eve had sex with her sons, thus creating other
people, or 2) Adam and Eve had several children, including females, and Adam
had sex with his daughters, thus creating other people, 3) Adam and Eve had
seveeral children, including daughters, and the brothers slept with the
sisters, thus creaitng other people, or 4) everyone was sleeping with
everyone else, thus creating other people. Whichever way you look at it,
it's disgusting, disturbing, and definitely UNholy.

Consequently, for me, I think that the best way to look at the Bible is as
an interesting socio-literary piece that sheds some light and contains some
factual accounts of a time and place in history that we would not know about
were it not for its stories.
