Subject: [SPAIN-L] Genetic search

Dear all,

I have been contacted by a genetic researcher in Madrid (Spain). They
are trying to identify the identity of some body buried in the San
Benito church of Valladolid (Spain). They suspect that the body belongs
to Alfonso, song of the king Sancho IV and Mara de Molina. They have
managed to recover DNA fragments of the Y chromosome of the child, and
they need to find a descendant of Sancho IV to make a genetic
comparison. The descendant must be through the paternal line (because of
transmission of the Y chromosome).

Does anyone know how to contact such a descendant of Sancho IV, if he
exists? Does anyone know of a (paid) researcher who could help in this
task? If I am not wrong, Leo van de Paas used to work in this area. Are
you still active in this kind of research, Leo?
