Good suggestion from Orrin! I am absolutely sure the email came from the LDS church which sponsored the DNA lecture and blood drawing. I heard about them from a poster at work which gave an email address. They used an online invitation and RSVP system and they demanded to know both my home and office email addresses. The name of the church was clear on all their interactions with me. As for this being a "one-of" problem, I sincerely doubt that they are the only ones out there to have misunderstood the event!

Sorry my message went out twice. I am using AOL from work which sometimes seems unreliable. The first message appeared NOT to have been sent, so I copied the text, changed the subject line, and resent it. Again, sorry for the overkill!
