Hi Jen,

Oxford Ancestors' Tara clan is haplogroup "T" (Jasmine is "J," Ursula is
"U," Xenia is "X," and so on). The Mitochodrial DNA Concordance <
http://shelob.bioanth.cam.ac.uk/mtDNA/toc.html > lists the following matches
for your sequence of mutations (16126[C] 16294[T] 16296[T] 16304[C]):

•Piercy,93; RC1:5; Cauc. UK(1)
•Sajantila,95; F98; Finnish(1)
•Sajantila,95; F110; Finnish(1)
•Sajantila,95; FI84; Finnish(1)
•Sajantila,95; 16; Icelandic(1)
•Sajantila,95; 268; Karelian(1)
•Côrte-Real,96; 70; [2B]; Portuguese(1)
•Côrte-Real,96; 70; [2B]; Spanish (N.)(1)
•Pult,94; SW34; Swiss(1)
•Sajantila,95; 3; Volga-Finnic(1)
•Sajantila,95; 12; Volga-Finnic(1)
•Sajantila,95; 20; Volga-Finnic(1)

To look this up for yourself, visit the page linked above (the
Concordances "Table of Contents") and scroll down to the section labeled
"Hypervariable Region 1." From there, you can look for matches by clicking on
any of the number sets that would include the numerical location of a
particular mutation in your sequence. Because each sequence gets separately
referenced under the location of each of its mutations, you need only look up
one mutation in your sequence to find out if there are any matching
sequences.

I chose to look under your first mutation, 16126[C], which falls between
the set of locations "16111--16136." Arriving at the page that lists every
sequence with a mutation falling between these locations, I then entered your
entire sequence of mutations ( 16126[C] 16294[T] 16296[T] 16304[C] ) into my
browser's "text search" tool (try "edit," "find in top window"), which pulled
up the matches above.

concordance, but no dice. Help!

As I understand it, count out where your mutations and
then add 16 to the front of that number. So. I have a
cytosine substitution at 126, a thymine at 294, a
thymine at 296 and another cytosine at 304.

My clan is Tara. (My scanner isn't working, but my
star is in the top branch at the center of the second
branch point.

So, anyway, would my haplotype (?) be...

16126C
16294T
16296T
16304C

Right?

And more importantly, what does that *mean* in terms
of the concordance?
