Subject: [DNA] "Family Tree" History Channel special Monday
Date: Sun, 16 Sep 2001 19:25:53 EDT

The History Channel website description mentions DNA as one of the topics on
this show.

"Tracing your family's roots is an exciting and fun exercise in personal
history. It used to be that filling in branches of a family tree was often
impossible or would take years of research, but now it's much easier thanks
to internet databases. Follow professional and amateur genealogists as they
reach back through time to discover a fascinating personal history. Actor
William Baldwin traces his family's roots back to 1638. Screenwriter Randall
Wallace's interest in learning about his Scottish surname becomes an
important factor to inspiring him to write the screenplay of Braveheart.
African-American Rohulamin Quander unlocks his family's history by
discovering the evolution of his name. DNA testing has also become critical
to clearing up facts about kinship mysteries, such as whether Thomas
Jefferson fathered slave descendants, and whether or not Queen Victoria was
illegitimate. Airs Monday, September 17 at 9pm ET/PT"
