Subject: [DNA] mapping the POMEROY DNA test results
Date: Wed, 03 Oct 2001 08:54:16

Listers may recall that the Pomeroy study this spring at
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~allpoms/geneticsportal.htm)
found 7 different "ancient families" grouped by their DNA.

The largest of these seven groups itself contained 7 testees none of whose
individual trees had been linked using all other research means available to
us.

Although we still can't link them together, new documentary findings have
enabled us to take three of the 7 testees' trees much further back in time
so that four of the seven trees now can be traced back 200-250 years to the
mid- to late-C18th.

To make it easier to follow I've mapped the seven DNA families' origins on a
map of the West Country:
http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.com/~allpoms/genetics_e1.htm

It is interesting to see how the known origins of the seven ancient families
circle the seat of the family that brought the name to England during the
Norman Conquest.

Best regards to all,
Chris Pomery
