My husband worked with a woman searching the Banks name, I believe. She has
since died but we are still in contact with a friend of hers who helped with
the research. Her name was name was Nancy Banks and I believe she was from
the Midwest. If you are interested, I'm sure her friend would be happy to
correspond with her. Please write to me privately if you are interested.

You might be interested in looking at my husband's Orkney genealogy website.
It is at www.cursiter.com. He has a huge database of Orcadian names and
records. You can write to him also as he knows far more than I about it.

According to 'Black's" book on Scottish names, our last name originates in
Orkney. Let me know if you find anything. The last name is 'Banks'.
