Ann, can you tell me the cost of a Family Tree DNA analysis for just myself?
Five of us from widely separated branches of the Heinrich Reichert common
ancestor have had our DNA analysed by Oxford Ancestors, and we all match
exactly. However, we have not yet found any others who match us. We had
hoped to locate some other Reichert/Richard descendants who could possibly
shed some light on the origin or our Heinrich Reichert of Frederick County,
VA. We are up against a brick wall here.
I think it would be a worthwhile investment for me to have a Family Tree DNA
analysis, just to get into their database. Having my DNA analyzed by Family
Tree DNA should broaden our chances of locating another remote branch of the
family. I believe that the connection between the Boone Participant #1306
branch of the Boone family and my Reichert/Richard family must have occurred
farily recently, genealogically speaking.
Several possibilities come to mind. For instance, if a Boone girl married a
Richard man, then died in childbirth with their first child, that baby may
have been raised by her brother's family, and given the surname Boone. Or,
the baby could have been raised by the Richard father's sister, who had
married a Boone man. In either case it would not have been unusual for the
baby to have been raised with the surname Boone.
Another possibility does exist. We know that Heinrich Reichert/Henry Richard
was an orphan. He was raised as a bond boy and trained to be a blacksmith.
It may be that Heinrich was born a Boon/Boone and raised as a Reichert. It
will be intereseting to discover any Boon/Boone people in Europe whose DNA
matches mine and Boone participant # 1306.
If we can locate another, yet unknown branch of either family, hopefully
they will have information as to where their ancestors came from in Europe,
and may be able to point us toward some further information. In any case, I
won't rest until we have explored all those posibilities.
So, I guess the quesiton now is, how much does it cost to have my DNA
analyzed by Family Tree DNA? Whom do I contact to make arangements to have
this done?
Thanks, Gordon
