Dell, I ordered a Family Tree DNA test kit yesterday, and gave them the
surname Richard/Reichert. I am hoping that this may lead to some contact
with other Richard/Reichert males. I guess the database will enable a search
on the basis of number matches, regardless of the surname used.
Someone asked where I am from. I live in Oklahoma City, OK. I was born April
28, 1934
My earliest known paternal ancestor was gggg grandfather Heinrich
Reichert/Henry Richard (1753 - 1847) of Frederick County, Virginia. He lived
on land just northwest from Winchester. His wife was Katheine Elizabeth
Rudolph Keckley, (1758 - 1828). They had 8 children, 6 sons and 2 daughters.
We have no record as to what happened to two of the sons. Isaac Richard
(1787 - ????) and John Richard (1788 - ????). I suppose it is possible that
one or maybe both of these men married a Boon(e) woman.
My ggg grandfather, Benjamin Richard (1790 - 1826) and his wife, Mary Ann
Gilham (1792 - ????) migrated from Frederick County, Virginia to Harrison
County, Indiana, shortly after the War of 1812. He was a War of 1812
soldier, and used his bounty certificates to buy land in southern Indiana,
later to become Harrison County.
My gg grandfather, Elijah Harrison "E.H." Richard (1822 - 1909) owned and
lived on the Squire Boone farm in Harrison County, Indiana. This is where my
g grandfather Samuel C. Richard (1846 - 1922) was born. They sold the Squire
Boone farm about 1870 and moved to what is now Chautauqua County, Kansas.
This is where my grandfather, Rolla R. Richard (1879 - 1957) was born.
Grandfather Rolla R. Richard homesteaded in Ellis County, Oklahoma in 1901,
and lived there until his death. My father, Roy R. Richard was born there,
and lived in that neighborhood all his life. That is where I was born.
