Thanks for the link to this interesting article. The third paragraph has some
bearing on the methods BYU will be using for the ~250 markers they plan to
study, although I believe they are looking at STRs rather than SNPs. "Sets of
certain SNPs are often inherited together more often than would be predicted
by their indivdual frequencies, a phenomenon called linkage disqequilibrium
that divides the genome into blocks of information called haplotypes." BYU
is looking for blocks on different chromosomes that appear in the same place
and time frame, according to the genealogies they are collecting.
