Subject: [DNA] Using Adobe Acrobat to Improve Viewing of DNA Websites
Date: Fri, 1 Feb 2002 10:13:16 EST

Hi Ken,

I am sending this e-mail to the wider audience at rootsweb, in order to help
spread the interest in the points you raise. Firstly, I will answer the
questions you set out.
(1) Yes it does because I use Adobe Acrobat 4 at present. I have it loaded
because several pieces of software have instructions or manuals that can only
be read in pdf format. The software usually allows it to be downloaded for
the user to use.
(2) I would have to give this question some thought, however, I have had my
own pages up since 1996 and I suspect it could of use to me.
(3) I would suggest you have a word with Adobe about this. I am sure they
would be interested. Most of the software using pdf format get it for free
anyway. They would only too pleased for you to spread the word. I would put
it on my site as well.
(4) I'll have a look at this and see if there is a reason for loss of colors.
(5) I'm not really sure about this. The pages magnified easily and even with
my poor eyesight, was no problem.
(6) I have partially answered this by suggesting you speak to Adobe. I would
like to think a bit more and let you know.

My details are: I live in the UK where I am full retired except for a little
dtp I do which pays for paper and ink. My major use of my computer is the
study of genealogy and I have worked on an off for some years on my family
tree. I subscribe to most genealogical sites on the web, and belong to The
Society of Genealogists (British) and to most family history societies where
my Garvey name is found and can be researched. I have only lately become
interested in DNA research, although I have some knowledge of DNA research as
my Honors degree in Systems Engineering was structured to include biology
amongst my projects. My web site is at Vic Garvey's New Millennium Pages
where you will be very welcome. It isn't the most brilliant of sites, but it
helps keep my old grey cells happy. Until 5 years ago, I was able to visit
the States quite a lot as my son lived and worked in Connecticut.
So there I am for what it's worth, and hopefully, to be of some use to you.

Regards,

Vic Garvey
