Dear John,
So there is no test commercially availvable that can provide info on
individuals one generation back? Yours is the type of information I'm looking
for, because I have no familiarity with any of these tests. What is the
difference between commercially viable DNA tests "(i.e., mtDNA and Y-STR) "
and "the much-more-expensive paternity
tests". Are the former what Ancestry and Famly Tree DNA
are offering at about $200? And how expensive are the latter and what
ancestral information would they potentailly be capable of providing? ( the
paternity type). These things would be very helpful to know. People who are
truely layman in all this are easily swayed by ads, and I for one do not
understand if such testing is worth the expenditure. Thanks
Gerald Finnegan
