Dear Sheryl:
Well there has been a flood of "mea culpa" on the list.
It looks like there may be enough of us guilty to set
a whole wing up in one of the new fed pens :-).
So I wanted to join this elite group and confess that
"me too" have published prices for the Scottish DNA
project. I thought it was a significant part of whether
some one would be interested. I have no financial interest
in any of the labs and have even encouraged other
DNA projects to publize their projects on the
SCOT-DNA mailing list and web site. The only interest
I had was to merely get lots of Scottish samples to
compare.
It still seems off hand to me that DNA studies of all
kinds are price sensitive. The cost of getting the results
is still somewhat high as compared to the perceived benefits.
I also believe that by publishing the various prices, that the
various labs have become much more competitive.... and
that's good. The recent trends and work to be able to
compare results across the various Labs is a real large
advance and that ability will certainly lead to more testing.
Anyway, where do we show up to plead guilty and take
our 20 lashes ?
Best Regards
John A Hansen
