It sounds like you've done some comparison shopping already at
http://www.oxfordancestors.com, http://www.familytreedna.com, and
http://www.ancestry.com/genetics. All three laboratories are reputable, and
they all use a core set of markers which will likely be included in future
research papers. You should be able to compare your results with the
literature. The labs do have different policies on storing your DNA for
future tests, database access, and other features which might or might not be
important to you. The higher number of markers would be most useful to you if
you are looking for a match with another living person to see if you have a
common ancestor.
You haven't mentioned the mitochondrial DNA test -- your uncle's maternal
lineage might be just as informative, maybe even more so.
