Then one of the criteria for selecting a Lab is whether they will
retain/store the DNA sample for possible future testing. Actually, in some
cases if you were to take the sample and simply sit on it until you needed
it you might be able to do so. Although the sample will dry out, they can
re-hydrate it to obtain the DNA when they are ready. I would verify this
with the selected lab before trying it though. I know FamilyTreeDNA does
store samples. I don't know if Oxford Associates or Relative Genetics
would be willing to do so.
I have posed the question of the African Tribe identification to Dr. R.
Spencer Wells who has been doing some work in this area. I will let you
all know if I get a response. He is spending most of his time running
around to remote areas collecting DNA and sometimes does not answer his
e-mail at all or it can take days.
