Hello listers
I would like to thank everyone who has taken the trouble to look at
my society's site on:
www.brookingsociety.org.uk
I have found the comments very interesting.
But, I do have a further question as the final result has come back
from OXFORD ANCESTORS with DYS425 marked as *M
i.e. multiple peaks.
If I have missed the explanation of this - I would be be grateful if someone
could point out where this has been discussed before. (I am sure I saw
something about it some months ago.)
But what does it mean?
Is it the subject who has 'funny' DNA ?
- i.e. a chimera, with mixed DNA, with some of repeat frequency 'A' and some
of 'B', etc. ?
This doesn't really seem sensible !
Or, is this a laboratory problem ??
i.e.the probe is not very specific and finds several matches ?
So, can someone tell me about DYS425 - or where to find out about it.
I do know that DYS425 is not used by other laboratories - and I wonder if
this
is because it is unreliable.
Thank you all
Ian
