I keep thinking that HLA (Human Leukocyte Antigen) tests could be interesting
for genealogists. This is "white blood cell typing" -- testing tissue
compatibility for bone marrow and organ transplants, like matching the ABO
compatibility of red blood cells for blood transfusions. You inherit your HLA
types from both parents, so this would be a way to trace some of the lines
"between" your straight paternal and your straight maternal lines. If you
volunteer as a bone marrow donor, you can learn your HLA types.
