Subject: [DNA] Oxford Report and questions

Hello to the group,

I received my Oxford Ancestors report and I was found to be in the rare
group of Naomi. It took three swabs and many months to get my report.

According to the letter from Oxford, they don't have a lot of information
about this clan. They wrote that the clan Naomi, "are found in many parts of
West Eurasia, including Armenia, Iraq, and Turkey. However, her clan is also
to be found in Europe with members of her clan from as far apart as Norway,
Sardinia and Germany." My genealogy shows I am Irish, English, and German,
so "Armenia, Iraq, and Turkey" was a surprise. Although, I know we are
talking about tens of thousands of years difference between my genealogy
data and my MtDNA.

I am curious about the Cambridge Reference Sequence. Could it provide
further information about my results and my MtDNA origins? Where do I access
the Cambridge web site and what do I type into it when I get there?

Also, if I wanted to participate in the Relative Genetics database, would I
have to start all over with a new swab or blood draw, or can this Oxford
data be utilized with their database? Relative Genetics was not a commercial
entity when I sent for my Oxford analysis last year, otherwise I would have
used RG. My husband works for a sister company to Relative Genetics and we
live in Salt Lake City. I would like to participate in their database, if
possible, but I don't know if this data is interchangeable. Also, I would
like to have my brother's Y-line analyzed to determine the origins of our
family's male line. Is it possible to determine the approximate origin of my
father's line (he is deceased) utilizing my brother and Relative Genetic's
Y-line test?

Here are my MtDNA results, with Oxford's red letters (mutations??) typed
with asterisks. My red letters are found on lines two, three, and four of my
report. Can someone help me with my questions and add any further
information about my MtDNA report?

Thank you,
Sue Nola
