I am new to DNA tests, but I have been watching the list for quit some
time. I got my results back last week from FTDNA. I know that the first
thing people do when they get their results it to send them to the list. I
am in the Brown Y Chromosome Study but got no matches at all and only one
single mutation match. I have also been attempting to understand the HGs
but if I am looking at the scores correctly, I only match HG1 four out of
six loci and that was the best match. I have also looked at the Y-STR web
site. I had several double mutation matches, but no close matches. Is
there any conversion when I compare the Alleles scores below or can they be
compared directly.

I would have expected most matches from Ireland but most were from Spain and
Germany. I found one site and I can't remember where, at this point, that
indicated my ancestors were likely from the Arctic. My ancestors have blue
eyes and red hair and to the best of my knowledge were from Ireland. Is
there any way to get the surnames of non-exact matches. Thanks Randall
