Subject: [DNA] anyone know who's researching the newly found "anxiety gene?"
Date: Sun, 03 Nov 2002 14:20:38 -0800

Much research is being done on the "anxiety gene" that goes back thousands
of years to prevent something. The anxiety gene is inherited, passed from
father to daughter and then to son of daughter. It creates things such as
the housewife's disease (agoraphobia) chronic anxiety, panic disorder, and
defects of the autonomic nervous system. Would anyone know who's researching
the "anxiety gene" and what it's historic or ancient purpose could have
been--perhaps to keep people out of combat in prehistoric times or keep them
at home instead of out on the hunt? Symptoms are genetically caused and
include being overwhelmed by incoming information, such as sitting in a
movie house. In any case, I'm looking for resources for research I can read
on sources and whose working on exploring "the anxiety gene" and how it's
inherited through the milleniums. Thanks for any Web sites or reading
materials to begin reading. What accompanies the "anxiety gene" are these
qualities in most of the cases:

1. The right eye is pulled toward the corner of the nose slighty and shows
up on paintings or photos, including paintings on late dynasty Egyptian
tombs and mummyforms. The left side of the face ages faster than the right
side and is sagged and wrinkled slightly, while the right side of the face
remains young looking. (autonomic system disorder or defect is explained in
medical journals with this countenance.)

2. The man experiences chronic anxiety and syndrome X, hyperinsulinism, a
metabolic disorder helped by a low-carb diet and protein and fat
(reminiscent of the paleolithic diet). Symptoms appear of anxiety when high
carbs are eaten in the morning or at bedtime. Many men (or women)with this
disorder complain they are too nervous to learn to drive a car.

3. The woman with the anxiety gene disorder may have agoraphobia or fear of
leaving the home, panic disorder, or chronic anxiety, especially after
stress such as childbirth or hormone changes.

If anyone knows where I can find research on "the anxiety gene" and who is
studying it, please let me know. I'm researching this topic for an article
I'm putting together on the genetic nature of anxiety.

Thanks,

Annie H.
