Dennis:
I gather what you mean by "fast" or "slow" refers to the frequency of mutations over a given span of time, right? If so, then I'm assuming by "faster" you mean "occurring with greater frequency" and "slower" would equate with "less frequent."
A couple of side issues. First, FTDNA informs me that you and I have a 12-marker match. Secondly, in my Rea Surname DNA Project, one of our participants was reported to me by FTDNA as a 12-marker match with myself, and the email notification proclaimed we matched in all 12 loci. However, according to their own data, we differ on four out of the twelve loci! This leads me to wonder how reliable FTDNA's reporting of results is. While they have wrongly labled this a "match," at the same time, they made no such claims for a near-match I have with another participant in which we differ at only one locus, and only by a single mutation step.
