I'm sure there are many potential markers out there just awaiting discovery,
but you'd have to double the number of markers to extend the results for just
one more generation. That's unfortunate, as I think many of us are in the
same boat, trying to detect an ancestral contribution from someone a couple
of hundred years back. This points out the potential benefits of preserving
DNA samples from your oldest family members -- who knows what part of their
DNA stories might be lost by the time new tests are available?
