Good for you Nel
Mind you, I have not studied a genetics 101 course, and just use the phylogenetic chart as a a tool to visualize numbers in a table (returmed Y str results). It is very helpful, and does not need a genetic course to be used. The software from Flexus Engineering at fist glance /use is not the easiest , indeed, there is no helpfile. But it works.
But then again, I do not study either compression techniques to use my fridge or electronics to use my TV.
It is true that the subject of genetics is quite complex, and that one would be foolish to order DNA test or run a surname DNA project without some understanding of Genetics. Fortunatedly, quite a members on this list have made great webpages with good explanations, and are very helpful in understanding DNA results.

This Nel is still studying to pass the Genetics 101 course. I've looked at
the pylo charts and don't have a clue what I'm looking at :-)

One step at a time..........
