David and DNA website,
Hi! We are in the process of posting all of the Melungeon Project data
base on Helen Campbell's website -- WWW.Melungeons.com This data base will
include 50+ samples from approximately 30 surnames. Some of the surnames
listed are of Melungeon-descent (e.g., Sizemore), some are from persons who
married into Melungeon families (and hence are believed to likely have the
same ethnicity, e.g., Wolfe), some are from known Native Americans who lived
near Melungeon communities in Appalachia, some are from Scottish Clans which
we hypothesize contributed to the Melungeon population, e.g.,
Bruce, Stewart, Alexander, Campbell.
For each surname, a history of the donor and his family's migrations is
given. I would very much like to invite you visit the site and plot the
geographic concentrations for the scores given. I think it will become very
clear where the Melungeon origins were and what their likely ethnicities
are/were. Beth
