Greetings Genealogy-DNA List,

In all my times on this forum, I have encountered a wide range of
individuals who have at least one thing in common ... their desire to
determine if knowledge of their DNA can in any way point them to a better
understanding of their family heritage.

As it was when I started my own surname project in 2001, there were those
of us on this forum who had no prior knowledge of genetics and it's
relationship to genealogy and there were the group of academicians and our
List Administrator who were well versed in this field.

Across this broad spectrum of individuals were those who had all day to
research and learn the needed details while on the other end of this
spectrum were those who would like to see the results of a surname DNA
project, but did not have the desire and/or the time to learn the mechanics
of how to accomplish this desired end result.

The Genealogy-DNA List has and will continue to be a tremendous source of
information for assisting many individuals with basic learning and the fine
tuning of their surname projects. Our List Administrator and others who
provide help on a daily basis are to be commended for their tireless
efforts. However there appears to be needs that go beyond what can be
expected from the participant/subscribers of this forum.

As a result of these observations and what I see as an on-going need, I
have launched a new web-based service to assist others in learning more
about what I have personally found to be so fascinating. The range of
services provided by SurnameDNA.com can be found
at http://www.surnamedna.com
