Hi list,

The Clan Lindsay comparison chart is useful and shows the 47 DYS that I
originally used. Some of these listed DYS numbers just don't appear, or at
least in any results that I've seen, so why are they listed. They are not
recent additions.

An apology is due. I kept inadvertently refering to the labs as opposed to
the 'DNA testing service' companies. This was purely an attempt at
simplifying the relationship between us, the 'testees', and them the
'testers'. I had grasped the importantance of the relationship between
testing lab and testing service company but was perhaps guilty of not
explicitly stating when I was, and I was not, simply ignoring any such
distinction.

With the replies I received I have desided that I will include any DYS that
appears in the submitted results, that the Scot-DNA project receives. Then
add any new ones as and when they start to appear. As the laws of
diminishing returns will hopefully slow the increase in new numbers to some
extent the problem is perhaps not as serious as I first thought.

There has been a couple of questions asking about the reason for my original
posting. I have mentioned, in the original subject heading, the Scot-DNA
project which is interested in researching the Scots Clans and their
genealogy. For me personally, where do my Jamiesons come from? Jamieson is
listed as a sept of Clan Gunn and so is there a real connection that can be
'proved' through DNA. I volunteered to help design a database specifically
for the project. The database records will not only contain the test results
but include migration routes and dates.

Anyone interested in contributing test results should email -

proves to be a dead end.

Thanks to everyone for their assistance. I'll post a note on this list once
the database viewer is up and running.
