Charles,
Hmmmm...I looked at the site. It doesn't refute the findings (the data),
just Sforza's interpretation. There is still a gradient between Iberia &
Lappland. The book interpretation is that it was from Lappland down, but the
site reverses that, saying Iberia up. But the "Asiatic island" still remains
in the Penn Dutch, & the high Mongoloid still remains among Scandinavians
(mentioned also on An by DNA's web FAQ). The East Asian results coming from
DNA Print seem to support Sforza.
1) Sforza's book is "the Bible" on this subject, so I would tend to not
discount it based on one web page, with no author's name given (as far as I
could tell). The sources used to debunk Sforza are mostly by Sforza
himself.
2) That web site has a political agenda, so that reduces the objectivity
factor, in my eyes. It is also a bit amateurish, saying things like "The
above quotation sees Cavalli-Sforza at his most smug." & talking about a
Quentin Tarantino film.
3) see also http://www.geocities.com/refuting_rm/admixture.html - note "The
presence of Tat C in Scandinavia and Germany reflects northeastern European
influence, and in no way indicates Mongoloid admixture." - that's
interesting.
I would treat that web site with caution, & go with Sforza until you see it
refuted in a mainstream, written source - just my opinion.
Steve W.
