IN a new article

it says:
A new genetic survey of Y chromosomes throughout the British Isles has revealed
a very different story. The Celtic inhabitants of Britain were real survivors.
Nowhere were they entirely replaced by the invaders and they survive in high
proportions, often 50 percent or more, throughout the British Isles, according
to a study by Dr. Cristian Capelli, Dr. David B. Goldstein and others at
University College London.

Does this not contradict previous studies that claimed that the "Celtics"
had been pushed out onto the fringes?

Genes show Welsh are the true Britons

Scientists say they have discovered big genetic differences between the
English and Welsh, reinforcing the idea that the "true" Britons were pushed
to the fringes by a large-scale Anglo-Saxon invasion.
...
The researchers concluded that the most likely explanation for this was a
large-scale Anglo-Saxon invasion, which wiped out most of the indigenous
population in England but did not reach Wales.

Welsh are the True Brits
18-Jul-2002
Gene scientists have found proof that the Welsh are the realEnglish,
despite the fact that the English have always been prejudiced towards them.
The people who think of themselves as English are actually descended from
Anglo- Saxons who invaded Britain following the Roman withdrawal in the
fifth century. Between 50% and 100% of the population at that time was
wiped out, but natural land barriers protected people who lived in the area
now known as Wales.
