Hi David and DNA listers,
David that is great, but hang on to the $1.25 because this will probabl;y
go back and forth over the next few months. For those who are interested in
possible 'hidden' Sephardic ancestry on your own background, there is an
excellent paper by Professor Abraham Lavender, a sociologist and Huguenot from
Charleston, SC who came to the conclusion that he also was Sephardic and traced his
DNA from Iberia to several locations in Europe where the Sephards settled. It
was published in Halapid, the crypto-Jewish journal and I believe it is
on-line. Abe also did a very well-researched paper on the Sephardic origins of many
Huguenots who came to America, noting that even the Huguenot Seal contains
the word God in Hebrew letters.
The other families/clans dating from the 1100 Norman entry into England
that we have DNA tested and believe are AMH French-originating Jews are:
Alexander, Campbell, Bruce, Forbes, Frazier/Fraser, Douglas, Gordon and Stewart. We
have not tested but also believe that the Hamiltons, Davidsons and Camerons
are of French Jewish descent.
In order for our thesis to be correct, there would have to have been a
large-scale or several mid-scale conversions of AMH carriers (probably Franks
and Goths) to Judaism around 750 to 900 CE. We believe we have located the
region in France where this occurred and also the Judaic institution which made it
possible.
For those who want some tangible evidence immediately, go to the library
or Borders or Barnes & Noble and get out a book on the Scottish
monarchy/nobility. Take a look
at portraits of the Stewart kings and their cousins and the first Marquis of
Argyle -- Archibald Campbell.
You can also get the paperback book Clan Fraser by Flora Marjory Fraser
and take a look at their marriage patterns which include multiple
cousin-to-cousin marriages (a practice common to Sephards and Muslims to protect bloodline
purity),
sept names such as Simon and Frew, and the acknowledgment that the Fraser
family was not only from France, but originally named Frizzell. On page 38 of
this booklet you will also see seals used by the Frasers. Number 5 on the page
shows the Bishop Fraser of St Andrews seal ( 1279 - 97) which displays a bishop
in a Tau position (X) flanked by a Muslim crescent and a Solomons Seal (six
pointed star). The Tau symbol is Cabalistic.
It is also interesting to note that one group of Frasers were the Lords Lovat
(i.e., Levit).

Melungeon DNA results are still not posted; the May feature is still on
