Yes SNP/STRs will be very interesting as will gene chips that test for
many SNPS and STRs at once. This was used by the Human Genetics paper team
(below). At the moment the reference you quote is just an abstract with no
details so I think it does not contradict my understanding that the
haplotype 2.47+ is probably within M170 and called I* in the new
nomenclature.

470 to 18,820 +/- 180 years BP. Then refining into the Magdalenian culture
17,100 +/- 150 to 10,940 +/- 85 years BP.

Yes Allan I agree with all of this but all I was trying to say is that
these cultures refer to the ancestors of the M170 mutation perhaps M89 and
so these cultures really are shared by several haplogroups not just the
haplotype 2.47+ which is thought to be I* according to the new
nomenclature. This must be so as most are now saying that M170 only
occurred about 6000 years ago! So in short I don't think you can , or
Peter Underhill was ever saying that Gravettian=M170.

to view the raw data.
This came from Human Genetics (2003) 112:255-261. It is listed on the Pontikos haplogroup summary site.

>Were you as interested as I was with the input exchange between our Ann
Turner and Lisa over Lisa's dad's, Hg I, UEP test from FTDNA? I wondered
if
Lisa was told that it was P19+/M170 or P38+.

Yes I was but if I remember correctly those results looked very I-like to
me all along. All the FTDNA test does at the moment is to tell you if you
have M170 or not (I think). Nick.
