Hello, Katheryn:
Although I am not a scientist, but an artist/writer, I find the DNA research
exciting and almost similar to exploring outer space. We are going into
territory that we're not even sure of, right now.....in "some" cases. For me it is
very similar to making a tapestry....there are different colors, patterns,
shapes....but eventually they will all fit together as a whole and give us an
answer.
One of the things I do is to get "books" on the subject "at my level." I
have read two of Bryan Skyes books (Oxford)....and he seems fairly basic in his
explanations....and makes it fun and a bit more exciting.
And, on the other hand, I believe one has to have knack for research and
anything to do with it. There is a sort of inner drive that is attached to
researching....it is difficult to put into words.
Well, one can see that I'm satisfied with my mtDNA findings!!! (I'm the
Saami girl)..however, I am not through yet!! I'm extremely curious about having
other tests, but I'm going to hold off for now....and keep up with the list,
hoping to discover which "direction" of research will give ME the most
satisfaction.
Keep plugging away. The best advice I have is to not get "ahead" of
yourself...take it easy with what you can and cannot digest YET. Don't expect too
much of yourself OR your brain yet! At first, I knew I had the "brain" power,
but not the patience....now I am settling down to a mild roar and balancing out
my expectations.
Hope this has been of some help to you.
May all our experiments and tests be for the entire good of mankind!!!
