Subject: [DNA] Adopted, need help with DNA search

I am female and was born and adopted in 1948. I have
found my mother's side of the family, but I have not
been able to find my father's side.

What DNA tests are there to find my mother's
genealogical history through her DNA, and, is there
any way to use my DNA to find information on my
father's side? Since I don't have a Y chromosome could
the X chromosome I received from my father at least
snow his mother's lines?

I need all sorts of help to figure out exactly what
tests I need, what they'll show, and where to get them
done.
