Mary,

Thanks David for the kind words. My expertise is with PA Germans. Since
PA was anti-slavery very early on due to the Quaker influence, there was
not much slave holding in the Commonwealth and thus not as much chance
numerically for African male admixture to occur. I have not run into any
occurrences in the PA Germans tested that I know of. Since the slave
(black) population was much great in the south, then it would seem more
likely that such admixture would occur down there.

The Y chromosome result speaks for itself. Obviously your direct male
ancestor was ultimately of African origin.

As I said earlier, I would highly recommend the book, "Reflections of
Our Past- How Human History is Revealed in Our Genes". There is quite a
bit in the book concerning European and African admixture, both European
male to African female and vice versa.

In the meanwhile you might want to explore his DNAPrint database at www.kerchner.com/cgi-kerchner/dnaprint.cgi . At the top of this site he also provides a link to his PA Dutch project - whose objective is to ascertain the alleged East Asian contribution to that ethnic group.
