Yes, Southern English as apposed to northern English.
Due in part to the Danelaw, being an English sub-division under northern Danish rule and Southern Anglo-Saxon up to 1066, when it all became Norman [French Vikings: 'The Romantic Raiders'].

The normal definition of Southern English is South of a line from the Bristol
Channel to the Wash.
By the way, someone was joking about English having more letters in words
compared to United Statesian. If this is how you spell "descent" I can see why.
