Anne

< one might expect to also find shovel shaped
incisors in the offspring of mothers who went throught the irish potato
famine<

The Irish potato famine occurred at the same time as the English potato
famine. The English, since the days of the manorial system in the middle
ages (i.e. for hundreds of years before potatoes were discovered in America)
used a three crop and fallow system that meant that in years when one crop
failed there were usually two others to fall back on.
The Irish relied on the one crop to pay the rent and feed many mouths.
The famine was of a short duration and cannot have caused bad nutrition for
an extended period sufficient to affect the teeth of the population.
