There is one more thing regarding this subject which would be beneficial
to know: Are the shovel-shaped incisors spoken of by your e-mail friend
a phenomenon she observed in the Appalachians, or merely something she
supposes to be a fact, from hearsay? After all, if shovel-shaped
incisors ARE found in part of the "non-Indian" population of Appalachia,
then "Native American" ancestry might be properly inferred for a larger
percentage of this population than the percentage of those with the
shovel-shaped incisors, since many "mixed-blood" descendants would
inherit teeth characteristic of their European or African forbears.
[There are implications, here, for the DNAPrint test.] Of course, all
this hinges on whether or not your e-mailer is talking about something
real. Do we know?
