Anne..
Thanks, it is good to have these YCC email addresses..... The YCC consortium
group are using SNP's to define their YCC Diagram 1 tree of
mankind.....however most of us are paying for DYS STR markers....."and never
the twain shall meet...."
Today, most of us "lay people" are comparing our 12 or 25 STR apples to the
YCC's many, many SNP oranges....I would hope that these YCC academics in the
future will try to more closely correlate certain haplogroup SNR markers
with our haplogroup STR's.......Until everyone gets on the same "testing
page", this confusion about where each of fits in the tree of mankind will
remain...
FTDNA has consciously added a SNP test for those men who have already been
tested for STR markers in an effort to help bridge the gap between the YCC
definitions and the lay people markers; and, that is a good step in this
direction.......
BTW, to my knowledge there is NO similar, and very detailed, YCC-type
diagram for the mtDNA'ers except Jobling's very primitive mtDNA ancestral
charts ????????
