Beth and others:
For over a year now we have all been warned not to put any stock in a 12 / 12 match unless the surnames match. Do you have information which would suggest you should ignore this advice from FTDNA and others?
I am unclear as to why you should be so interested in the Rodrigues - Stewart match. As you know your colleague Dr. Panther - Yates matches 12 / 12 with quite a few Stewarts and a Rodriques. The number of matches to a very wide variety of surnames is a phenomenal 139 in total! Obviously this is a very common haplotype and unless you have a high resolution match what is the point of contacting anyone in this group? My ancestors came from England and I match a Guerra, and my cousin whose ancestors came from Germany matches a Garcia. This is very common with an R1b haplotype and does not indicate any meaningful connection other than thousands of years ago. Just curious as to your reasoning.

Hi Ana and Listers,
Thanks so much for the DNA results. Two of my Appalachian lines
Caldwell/Yates/Ramey/Stewart and Houston are 12/12 matches with two Rodriqueses from
Puerto Rico; they are R1b and I've been corresponding with both of them. Beth
