Raymond,
If what you state is true, what is the ethnic group that is dropped off?
They test for four ethnic groups and a triangle only has three sides. So,
are you saying that Native American is the only ethnic group that is on
everyone's results, and only the Indo/European, East Asian, and African
varies? In my case, I had no African side.

It is statistically possible for a sister to have 20% and a brother to have
0%. The only thing that would not be statistically possible is for a child
to exceed the sum of their parents. I'll ignore the sarcasm, and state that
is why more than one sibling should be tested. Obviously, if both test out
as having the same parents, and the parents (as in my case) are deceased,
then I say--both should start looking (but, then, you knew that would be my
response).

Lucy, Ray, et all.....
First, Lucy.... with his research, photos and the fact of some
dissatisfaction of some scientist's opinions aboard here, Ray is absolutely
swayed that the test is flawed and I submit, no matter how much others'
findings may prove the test correct, his disappointment has colored (no pun
intended!) his view and he won't be swayed until the scientists here are
more satisfied with the tests.
Second, I do want to give some more info, that I just found out! If you
remember, my test came out (the 2.0, my 2.5 is still to be found out when it
s coming) 87% IE, 12% S-SA, 1%NA.....well, I believe with the 2.5 version,
those %'s have a good chance in changing. Not only because of my failed
markers and the test itself, but because I found a fountain of knowledge. I
ve known about my maternal grandmother's NA lineage.... heck, her picture
shows it, and it's her father that the "bronze skin" story is about. And her
husband, my grandfather, his mother is the one from Oregon and supposedly
Indian, as well. But, because he died, I have no way to ask him. Well, I
found his sister yesterday, called her, and OH MY GOODNESS ME!!!
The info this woman has!! AND, she also personally knew my grandmother's
father, the bronze one, although her comment was the 'copper" one! LOL Her
mother, was "nearly fullblood" Indian.... and her parents were too. She's a
bit forgetful, until certain names are said and she says..."Yes! That's it,
now that you said it. I remember. Which spurs her on to remembering things
on her own. And one of those things was that her mother said that a "Chief
Joseph" was her relative!! I almost fell through my chair!! Now, there's
several "Chief Joseph"s in history.... and since she said Algonquin Indian,
it could have been any one of them.... but I did some research, and called
her back. I started naming different tribes to see if one hit the mark, and
it did! Abenaki!!! And, i found that there is a tribe, as well as the nation
is called Algonquin as well. She was estatic!! She almost cried because I'm
helping her remember. You see, she was teased terribly when younger and
family members from this side of the country called her a lier so she
stopped talking about this. The "Chief Joseph" that she is remembering, is
the one who lead the Nez Perce Indians!!! And she has NO idea how important
he was. All she knows (she has a book & pictures!!) is that her Mom said
that he was her relative. (She also has NO internet access!)
She gave me much more, but I'm on info overload and will have to sort things
through, including to sit with her, see the book, and pictures.... but it
seems that she is bearing out my conclusions about my g/mother's father
being of something OTHER than just indian! I'll let you all know more later.
But Ray..... the test may have been wrong in your mother's case..... in mine
it just may be right on! Or, even a wee bit UNDER.... because by the
numbers, I should be 1/8 by my grandfather, and 1/8 by my grandmother!!
We'll just have to see the new results to tell better....I hope! Meanwhile,
I'm DOCUMENTING it through my g/Aunt Dee's paperwork & pics!! So, stayed
tune!

An estatic warm regard from Maine,
Debby Peare
