Debby:

The Nez Perce Indians speak a Penutian language, and live in
Idaho--about two thousand miles away from the Abenaki, who speak an
Algonquian language. So, I guess your grandfather was part-Abenaki and
part-Nez Perce?
********************************
You are partially right, Idaho was one, but here's Chief Joseph:
The man who became a national celebrity with the name "Chief Joseph" was
born in the Wallowa Valley in what is now northeastern Oregon in 1840. He
was given the name Hin-mah-too-yah-lat-kekt, or Thunder Rolling Down the
Mountain, but was widely known as Joseph, or Joseph the Younger, because his
father had taken the Christian name Joseph when he was baptized at the
Lapwai mission by Henry Spalding in 1838.
And the Abenaki I gather is from my g/grandmother's father side as it was my
g/grandmother's mother who I believe to be related to Joseph.

When, and if, you are able to prove your ancestor was American Indian,
THEN you will have shown nothing more than that your 1% NA test result
prompted you to look for it (though, with a family tradition of it, I
don't know why you hadn't called your aunt before this). This will not
prove anything about the accuracy of the test.
*******************************************
I'm adopted.... and didn't know of her until yesterday! My biological mother
is a wee bit of a ditz, and thought I knew! LOL

When do you plan to look for your Sub-Saharan African ancestors, which
the DNAPrint test has "proved" to you that you have? At 12%, they
should be a lot easier to find.

That's what I'm doing Ray! Remember, the "bronze/copper"
g/grandfather I mentioned? My suspitions are that HE might actually be a
black" Indian! Thus, the S-SA blood in me. But, I need to talk with my
g/Aunt Dee..... which I'll be doing on the phone again this morning.
So, if I find the paperwork.....or even more info.... from my g/Aunt, it'll
prove that the results of BOTH S-SA AND NA.... is true. And remember, my
results are being redone, the %'s may change.
