David,
If you read what I said is that a child could not exceed the SUM of the
parents i.e. if a father had 20 genetic markers and the mother had 30
genetic markers, the child could not have more than 50 genetic markers.
Now, Mr. Chandler states "Don't fall into the trap of thinking that these
percentages are the simple result of counting markers and dividing by the
maximum possible score. It's nowhere near that simple. In fact, it is
quite possible for a child to exceed the sum of both parents on one
ethnicity. I'd guess the excess could be as much as 15% if things fall out
just right."
Perhaps he is referring to the way DNAPrint does the scoring--my real point
was that the least a child could have would be zero of the genetic markers
of a particular race, and the most a child could have would not exceed the
sum of both his/her parents.
Also, I have not found a way to "scan" the archives--is there a word search,
or must one read thousands of messages?
Thanks,
Lucy

scenario showing how, by virtue of the nature of this test, it is very
possible for a child to have more of for example NA than either of their
parents. If you really want to go through the very clear genetic facts she
preented you will have to scan the Archives using key words.
