Debby:
Sahaptin is a sub-group within the Penutian language family. Abenaki is
in the Algonquian language family.
Please go back and read your first post about talking to you aunt.
Therein, you said her Chief Joseph was an "Algonquin" and "Abenaki."
Look, I'm not going to hold you to any of this, as you were writing
while very excited; but, none of this has anything to do with the
DNAPrint test being right.

Yes, but the Abenaki wasn't Chief Joseph's tribe. Sorry I was confusing y
all! What I meant was that when I mentioned tribe names, Abenaki popped up
as one that her mother mentioned. But, so was Nez Perce, which was Chief
Joseph's..... I neglected to add that, and I apologize..... the Abenaki
tribe was apparently only one association with her (my g/Aunt) mother (my
g/grandmother). The association has to be cleared, but I assume, if my
g/grandmother's mother was related to Chief Joseph, then she would be Nez
Perce and her husband would have been the Abenaki.....making my
g/grandmother a combo of the 2 tribes. At this point, that's just
speculation... and a LOT of research will be necessary.
Sorry for the confusion. Does this help?
Warm Regards from Maine,
Debby Peare
