it makes sense to me, oh and by the way in my parts of the USA [west coast] it means the same thing ... it's just that some people put a little twist on it, to what ever their liking would be and some times depending on what the situation at hand would be :) if it was me I would have gone as far as ... oh never mind I don't want to tarnish the fairy tail any further :)
the newbie needs to take off the blinders, TRUTH is in the evidence, not heresy or what ever great auntie Matilda Poopendecker would want people to think her ancestors were like ... though some of us would like to be Saintly or Christ like, it's a hard pedestal to stay standing atop of :) face it things happen and later generations can't fix it up like it never happen ...
the TRUTH will find you out ...
all we can surmise from these test results is (1) there is definitely no connection at all [at
least with his own line] (2) there might have been an unknown or unrecorded adoption in the past (3) there might have been an extra or pre-marital affair in the past (4) the first husband or soon to be suitor died, and the [known or not knowing] expecting widow re-married before the child was born ... these last three categories, although a fact of life, can be a disappointment in ones research efforts. We are still family, just not how one would have thought [hope] ...
