It just depends on your point of view. For most people, the time window
for a genealogically useful relationship is 600 years or so. Your
window seems to be rather longer than that. So be it. You are
interested in relationships that date back further, so you must use a
more generous allowance for genetic distance. That shouldn't be a
problem.
