Back in July 2002 I set up a page of web links taken from the messages
posted here on the list. I mentioned it on this list and some folks here
who have their own sites have linked to it. It's currently at:

http://baucum.org/GENDNAL/listPages.php

You'll see that it has a few categories already - you can list by surname,
date, web address (URL), and list view the list of academic papers. The
links (URLs) are all stored in a database (MySQL) on my site, and I have web
pages which allow me to enter new links into the database and automatically
regenerate the pages.

I am not short of ideas for how this set of pages could be greatly enhanced.
For example, I want to:

- split the long lists into multiple pages
- allow selection of a letterfor listing surname projects (eg all surnames
beginning with B)
- allow readers to 'vote for' or rate pages on a scale eg of 1 to 5 (for
useful to rubbish) or 'Newbie to Expert' and then allow the user to list
pages by popularity or expertise.

So while not short of imagination, web space or programming capability, I
*am* short of time to go through my current backlog of emails from the list
and actually enter them into the database. If any of the regulars here have
time and feel like volunteering to do some data entry, then Ican get this
set of pages moving again. My ideal would be to have a regular team of, say,
3 data entry volunteers who can contribute time as and when they can. Any
takers for this, or other ideas?

I have a complete set of emails from the list from the time I started
subscribing (apart from the messages that I call 'me too's which don't have
new content), so I could email bunches of emails to volunteers for them to
sort through and extract the links.

As well as the links coming from this list, I know from my site logs that
the pages get a lot of hits via Google searches, so I would add a link back
to the rootsweb list too, with the intention that the list might get a few
more subscribers that way.

If anyone is interested please feel free to contact me on-list of off-list,
